Information Technology (IT) COURSE


IT qualifications designed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in a range of sectors. They give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment. The qualifications also provide career development opportunities for those already in work. Consequently, they provide a course of study for full-time or part-time learners.

The course provides much of the underpinning knowledge and understanding for the National Occupational Standards for the sector, where these are appropriate.

On successful completion of IT qualification, learners can progress to or within employment and/or continue their study in the same, or related vocational area.

The IT has been developed to:

• Provide full-time learners an IT qualification that covers the Key Stage 4 Programme
• Study for ICT provide education and training for those employed in IT
• Give those employed in IT opportunities to achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 vocationally specific qualification
• Give full-time learners the opportunity to enter employment in the IT sector or to progress to vocational qualifications
